Betty’s first Corbett was Beinn a’Chlaidheimh on the 22nd June 2021 which we climbed during our Fisherfield trip scaling the 5 Munros, but it wasn’t until after compleating her Munro round that Corbetts started to feature more on our walking routes.

Combining the Corbetts with the Grahams led to many longer walks which Betty coped with very well. The islands, with the exception of Jura, gave us superb weather conditions and she enjoyed some great walks. She is always interested in wildlife and the manx shearwater burrows on Rum were of particular interest! Deep snow can give Betty some tougher walking conditions but she just tucks in behind me so that she has a cleared path to walk in.

A Munro Society meet in July 2024 based at Inchnadamph gave her the opportunity to tackle many of the northern-most Corbetts including a wonderful traverse of Foinaven.

Betty seems to enjoy camping and a few of the more remote Corbetts gave her some excellent trips including Ben Aden and Ben Lair.

Betty’s final Corbett was Morrone and in scaling that she became the first canine compleater of a Full House, achieved in just under 4 years! She received a fair bit of media attention, a bit of fun which really boosted the profile of her fundraiser for Kerry Blue Terrier Rescue, raising almost £4,000.

Her stamina and faithful companionship is very humbling and it has been a pleasure to accompany her and have her guide me in all weather conditions across the length and breadth of Scotland, and to the mountains of England, Wales and Ireland.
Now approaching her 10th birthday she will keep up her hill-walking, although probably at a slightly slower pace. But she is a bit of a slave-driver and doesn’t like hanging around until that summit cairn is reached when she can then enjoy her two hard-boiled eggs and a wee snooze!
