The Munro Society was formed in 2001 as a forum through which Munroists could pool their interests in and knowledge of the Scottish Mountains. Many compleaters are minded to give something back to the hills to which they devoted so much of their time and effort and, in return, provided so many rewarding experiences. The Munro Society is providing a channel through which such goodwill may be put to practical use.
Among current projects are:
Devising and recording Mountain Quality Indicators (MQIs) by which the
quality of experience offered by each Munro may be measured.
Sponsoring a video explaining the importance of path maintenance.
Recording on video the recollections of some of the early compleaters.
Expanding the Society's archives held in the A K Bell library in Perth, which contains material about Munros, Munroists, and other matters pertaining to the Scottish mountains.

The Society also has an active social side which includes an Annual Munro Lecture, the Annual Dinner and 'Munro Re-Visits'. These events give ample opportunity for members to meet with fellow Munroists.
Members live in all parts of the British Isles - and beyond - and are kept informed of Society affairs through newsletters. The present annual subscription is £20, renewable following the AGM (in April).
